The Toffee Shop is an integral part of King Street in the food town of Castle Douglas, a popular shopping destination for locals and visitors alike. It is a traditional old fashioned sweet shop with a varied selection of more than 300 jars of sweets and 25 flavours of ice cream and fresh fruit sorbets to choose from.
Keith and Jane Davidson took over The Toffee Shop in 2009 to have as an outlet for their Glen Urr Farmhouse ice cream which they make on their local farm, using milk from their prize winning Ayrshire cows.
The mouth-watering flavours can be served in cones or pots in three different sizes, as well as a large selection of 500ml take home tubs and ice cream cakes made to order.
The shop specialises in items to suit those with special dietary requirements and stocks gluten free cones, dairy free sorbets, 40 jars of sugar free sweets, as well as sugar free chocolate, dairy free sweets and gluten free shortbread.
There are plenty of old fashioned sweets to choose from: liquorice to mints, toffees to millions, there are also old favourites including soor plooms, ABC’s, lucky tatties, sweet tobacco and pontefract cakes.
If you are looking for a gift then there are boxed chocolates, fudges or why not get a weigh-out of favourite sweets from the jars in a cellophane bag finished off with ribbon and gift tag, a truly personal gift. The staff will be only too pleased to help you choose that perfect gift.
As well as stocking a wide variety of shortbread there are also some quirky sweets for kids old and young.
